The temple under the sandy ghost town.

How'd you manage to get through it? It seems pretty obvious up until the switch with the key. Just where does one get the key, and where does that second platform (triggered by the switch before) run off to? It sure didn't go to any of the places I expected it to.

I've walked around that place looking for platforms/switches for some time and my supplies are getting really low. (hell if I'm using the wimp out spell again)
...I guess the low supplies issue is because it took me a while to realize that the bad guys keep attacking a certain member of my party, and maybe I should defend with him and protect him from poison...

I fully expected to find it waiting at the empty receiver off of the spiral room.

heck, I've even tried intercepting that mystery platform in mid-stream by jumping on the other one when it was close.
I've also tried turning off the unnecessary switch in the main room (the one that doesn't have to stay on for me to follow the main path).

So that's what doesn't work anyway.

I take it that I'm looking for the mystery platform first then the key.

You have to pay very close attention to where that 2nd platform goes to when you activate the "main switch" in the room. Have you tried running after it?

oh that's just plain dirty. I don't like that design at all.

Later tonight I'll have another run at it, I kept the boss from totally beating me into a pulp, but the next boss/gang does their job well enough. I'm becoming all too familiar with the game over screen. It seems as if my largest challenge now is dealing with the supply and inn spacing.

I am stuck there too!! I guess I need to definitely go back to the inn as well...The leveling up in this is brutal...I am only level 3 and havn't ran away either.

So far I am enjoying it a lot. It is great fun and the packaging reminds me of Lunar collecters on PS1...I am not sure though but I still prefer Phantasy Star IV over this so far.

Exactly. Imagine you're in the mid-90s and you have no internet, you lazy bunch. Things were harder back then and we didn't finish games on the first afternoon. I personally didn't feel like a fool for paying so much for a game as I do now, anyway :P

I found other games of the 16 bit generation to be much worse about grinding then Pier Solar ever was to me.

I can beat this game without grinding a single battle. But maybe that's because I'm a developer and handled items, chests, shops, difficulty, magic etc. :).

yeah that "puzzle" had me a bit confused too but it is definitely possible lol. It was a satisfying feeling figuring out those two platforms and getting out of that area though.

Are you sure that is possible? I did not run from a battle and found that I could not afford all the best armour or weapons. I had to fight a bit near the entrances of most dungeons just to get the best equipment etc.
