Cart Label coming unglued

Postby Shai'tan on Mon Dec 27, 2010 11:58 pm

I'm not angry or anything but I would just like to point this out and perhaps have some safe suggestions to re-secure the cart label.

This is common even with Mega Drive games from back in the day. Many of the later releases were prone to this kind of thing, so I am guessing if they are using the same machines which orignally pressed Mega Drive games back then, then chances are they will suffer the same problems.

Nothing a tidy bit of Pritt can't fix

you could use a hair dryer, and make the adhesive sticky again.
and if theres know adhesive left, glue sticks always come in handy :)

Yep, would suggest airdryer (not too hot!) to make the top completely peeled out.
Then put a bit of glue and apply again... But never tried before, any glue recommendation is welcome. I'll turn this as a small FAQ ^^.

Pritt is usa-brand glue?

There's a clear epoxy resin that you can get at most hardware stores, and I've used it on stickers that peal up from time to time to make them stay down. However, I would use it sparingly (in very light amounts) and test it out on another cartridge or plastic surface before doing the real deal. You don't want to screw up your Pier Solar.

And once that stuff dries, it's on there for life. Make sure you're confident you can get it done before applying it to the game cartridge.

I think its made on purpose. So its closer to original labels who have tendency to unglue.
Well, who knows! Or maybe the glue didn't like the airplane trip ^^

Nah!

Not to change the topic, but I notice that you guys have the Sega security screws holding the cart together. Any particular reason you went with those screws as opposed to a Philips head?

Pier Solar is a original game 16BIT game so it has the original screws :). Phillips screws are for pirate games or cheap stuff!

You guys are so authentic. You should have preloaded the carts with dust so that you have to blow into it before you play.

The blowing trick is so powerful... sometimes the cart just won't slide in smoothly but after a blow, it goes in like hot knife in butter.

Or perhaps this is the reason you put used security screws.
