Customs

Questions about ordering the game.

Luckily I haven't had any serious problems with customs clearance here in Canada. Except for longer wait times and having to pay customs fees once. Here in Canada you are exempt from paying customs fees for imports if the value of the product is under $20. If the product is declared to be anything more than that, there is a random chance that you will have to pay customs fees (there was once instance where the merchant sold me a $60+ JP import and declared the real value but I was lucky not to get taxed. Most chinese merchants and ebay sellers in my experience lie about the real value of the parcels or mark it down as a gift (lol). I remember when I imported a JP Xbox 360 shoot em up, I had to pay a handling fee (about $5), a 6% import tax (6% of the product value) and local sales tax (13% where I live). I ended up paying $100+ in total for that game. $80+ for the game + shipping and $20 for taxes + customs handling. Oh brother. lol. Hopefully I don't get slapped with a tax by Customs. I'd have to pay the mail man an extra $12 or so. lol.

The country´s reputation for bootleg stuff just results in controls being much more thorough for anything from there.

Thats true.
But the biggest problem is how terrible slow they are. Sometimes a packet is delayed by over a month by the customs office. I remember one time contacting the seller because the packet does not arrived for 2 month. Turned out it was at the customs office and they just were very slow processing the packets.

Nice, then I dont need to pay taxes for these as here you need to pay tax for invidual parcel if its value is over 45€. Since this game costed 35$ which was 23€ when I bought these so the value is way over 45€ per invidual parcel. still € is more powerful money than $ so even now days the 35$ is less than 45€.

For Germany, you have to pay about 5 € Import-taxes.

Depends on which version you have. Import tax = Mwst. = 19% excluding shipping cost.
Video games are free of customs in germany, we only need to pay tax.

Had anyone from germany problems with the customs? They wrote to me and they want a bill and a payment confirmation (paypal, so that's no problem). But what about the bill? I only got the "waiting payment"-mail send to me after preordering. Any help would be great (=

I didnt hat problems but i often need to go to the customs office and get my games.
Most important is the PayPal payment confirmation with the amount of money paid and the name of the seller on it.

That should be enough. If they ask you about a bill, just say to them you dont got one, the whole payment procedure was by PayPal.

My package arrived last week and fortunately there were no problems with the Customs. So, I just got home and recorded an unboxing. Now it's time to test the game in Mega Drive =)

We had one guy paying customs so far. In Danemark if i recall. Its crazy because he apparently had to pay a "fee" for having its package inspected + some tax.

Kinda crazy to have to pay for a service you don't ask :P
Reminds me the fee you have to pay when you enter USA (hey, we take your fingerprints, now you must pay for it!) haha.

Did your tracking code had 2 leaving dates? Like 2 times "Em transito para Brasil - Brasil/XX".
I think that it's very odd, even to our lame mail system.

I didn't receive my tracking code before the product was delivered. I would suggest checking with Correios (I assume you are brazilian) if you are suspecting your package to be late or lost.
